Cupboard Stretchers

Our Cupboard Stretchers is the local food bank which services residents in the White Oak and Versailles area.  It is income based.  We are totally supported by donations from the community and grants from the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.  We receive food and/or monetary donations on a regular basis from The White Oak Lions Club, Prayer Time Cathedral, St. Angela Merici Catholic Church and Mary of Nazareth School.  Our largest contributor is our local White Oak Police Department with their annual Tips for Cops Fundraiser organized by Sergeant Hetherington.

We are opened the third Monday of each month at 9:00 am.  Please call first to verify date, time and items needed for a first time visit.

If you would like to donate – food, non-food items, money or your time - to the White Oak Food Bank please call the church at 412-678-5355.

The Best Things to Donate to a Food Pantry Are:

  • Non Perishable proteins:  canned meat items like tuna or chicken; Nut butters like peanut or almond are great options; beans are a versatile form of protein, too!

  • Meals in a can/Box:  things like soup, stew, chili or mac and cheese boxes that contain a pre-made cheese sauce (not the type that requires additional milk or butter) are great options.

  • Low Sugar Cereals

  • 100% Fruit Juice: single servings are great for school lunches.

  • Canned Staples:  vegetables, fruit

  • Pop Top Lids:  again, good for school lunches.

  • Cooking Essentials:  healthy cooking oils like olive oil, spices, garlic powder, salt, pepper, onion powder (just to name a few!)

  • Household Staples:  toilet paper, toothpaste, paper towels, soap, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant.
